How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one model. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different model that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 334 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 260 of 334 (~78%) for quality reasons. The remaining 74 are what we'd actually surface.
- 135 listed in the wrong eBay category (an accessory or part, not the item)
- 80 missing a required keyword group (e.g. completeness / authenticity)
- 20 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 11 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 7 priced above the curated ceiling
- 4 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 3 caught by a junk-listing guard
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for MacBook Air M4 13-inch returns far more than the model itself: chargers, cases, replacement screens, logic boards and locked machines all mention it in their titles. These are the 27 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to MacBook Air M4 13-inch because they are: that's the noise.

MacBook Air M4 13-inch: buyer & reseller spec sheet
Telling it from its siblings. Several Air generations share a near-identical look, so a lid photo proves nothing. Ask for the About This Mac screenshot: the Chip line should read Apple M4. This page covers the 13-inch size only; listings that name another chip, or that cover several generations in one title ("fits M2/M3/M4"), are usually accessories or a different machine.
What moves the price. Memory and internal storage are fixed at purchase and cannot be upgraded later, so the configuration you buy is the one you keep. More unified memory and a larger drive both lift the asking price, and the entry configuration is the volume seller that sets the floor. Compare like for like before calling anything a deal, and note that refurbished grades and open-box units tend to ask more than plain used.
Traps seen while tuning.
- Cases, sleeves, screen protectors and hubs are titled "for MacBook Air 13 M4" and flood a plain search, some of them filed in laptop categories. The feed keeps them out; a saved eBay search will not.
- Defects sometimes appear only as a title suffix ("screen issue", "bent lid"). Read the whole title and ask before assuming a low price is a bargain.
Buying a used MacBook Air: what to check
These checks apply to every model on our MacBook Air pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.
Used
- Ask for a photo of the About This Mac screen showing the chip, memory and storage. Configurations of one model differ a lot in price.
- Ask the seller to confirm Find My is turned off and the Mac is signed out of their Apple ID. An Activation-Locked Mac can't be set up without the previous owner.
- Ask whether it was a company or school machine. A Mac enrolled in remote management (MDM) can lock itself to that organisation after a reset.
- For a laptop, ask for the battery cycle count and condition from System Information, and check the photos for screen coating wear and dents on the corners.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (Apple or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
- Enter the serial number on Apple's coverage check page to confirm the model and any remaining coverage.
New
- Check the box is sealed and the serial on the box matches the listing, then check coverage with Apple once it arrives.
- Very low prices on "new" Macs from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
