How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one model. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different model that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 95 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 41 of 95 (~43%) for quality reasons. The remaining 54 are what we'd actually surface.
- 24 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 12 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 listed in the wrong eBay category (an accessory or part, not the item)
- 2 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for MacBook Pro M1 Max 16 returns far more than the model itself: chargers, cases, replacement screens, logic boards and locked machines all mention it in their titles. These are the 13 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to MacBook Pro M1 Max 16 because they are: that's the noise.

MacBook Pro M1 Max 16: buyer & reseller spec sheet
Telling it from its siblings. This page covers the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip. Sellers often title a listing "M1 Pro" or just "M1" when the machine is the Max, and the reverse. Ask for the About This Mac screenshot: the chip line should read Apple M1 Max, and the screen size is shown in the model entry. The 2019 Intel 16-inch looks similar in photos and gets mixed into searches, so check the chip line rather than the title or case shape.
Configurations and value. One page covers every configuration, and asking prices spread widely within it. Memory and internal storage are the biggest levers: more RAM and a larger SSD push the price up, and the 32GB / 1TB tier is the most common in listings. The GPU core count is a second variant that some sellers state and others leave out, so compare like with like before calling a listing cheap. Very large storage configurations list far above the pack, so an unusually high ask is often a spec premium rather than a market signal.
Traps we saw. Bulk sellers list near-identical machines with "screen issue", "battery issue" or "read description" at the end of the title at heavy discounts; the feed leaves those out. Many listings also sell Pro and Max machines under almost identical titles, so a low price on a Max-titled listing is worth a second look at the chip screenshot.
Buying a used MacBook Pro: what to check
These checks apply to every model on our MacBook Pro pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.
Used
- Ask for a photo of the About This Mac screen showing the chip, memory and storage. Configurations of one model differ a lot in price.
- Ask the seller to confirm Find My is turned off and the Mac is signed out of their Apple ID. An Activation-Locked Mac can't be set up without the previous owner.
- Ask whether it was a company or school machine. A Mac enrolled in remote management (MDM) can lock itself to that organisation after a reset.
- For a laptop, ask for the battery cycle count and condition from System Information, and check the photos for screen coating wear and dents on the corners.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (Apple or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
- Enter the serial number on Apple's coverage check page to confirm the model and any remaining coverage.
New
- Check the box is sealed and the serial on the box matches the listing, then check coverage with Apple once it arrives.
- Very low prices on "new" Macs from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
