Asking prices of currently-active listings. Not sold-price data. Rows marked "low sample size" have fewer than 5 listings, so one outlier can move them a lot.

How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one model. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different model that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 66 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 59 of 66 (~89%) for quality reasons. The remaining 7 are what we'd actually surface.
- 31 listed in the wrong eBay category (an accessory or part, not the item)
- 24 missing a required keyword group (e.g. completeness / authenticity)
- 2 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 1 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for MacBook Pro M4 Max 14 returns far more than the model itself: chargers, cases, replacement screens, logic boards and locked machines all mention it in their titles. These are the 19 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to MacBook Pro M4 Max 14 because they are: that's the noise.

MacBook Pro 14: M4 Max buyer & reseller spec sheet
Identify the exact model from the machine, not the title. Open About This Mac: the chip line should read "Apple M4 Max", not "Apple M4" or "Apple M4 Pro", and the screen should be the 14-inch panel. Sellers often paste several chips and sizes into one title (a case or screen protector "for M1 / M2 / M3 / M4"), so confirm against a system-info screenshot before you trust the headline.
Configurations move the price more than condition does. Listings for this model come with different CPU/GPU core counts, memory sizes and storage sizes, and asking prices spread very widely with them. More unified memory and a larger SSD raise the price, and the higher core-count chip variant sits above the lower one. Compare like for like (same memory, same storage, same core count) before calling something a deal, because memory and storage can't be upgraded later.
Traps we saw while tuning. The 16-inch M4 Max is often titled almost identically to the 14-inch, and many 16-inch listings carry "14-Core" in the title, which describes the chip, not the screen. Check the screen size line. Used listings that say "screen issue" or "keyboard issue" are flawed machines priced near clean ones; this feed holds them out.
Buying a used MacBook Pro: what to check
These checks apply to every model on our MacBook Pro pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.
Used
- Ask for a photo of the About This Mac screen showing the chip, memory and storage. Configurations of one model differ a lot in price.
- Ask the seller to confirm Find My is turned off and the Mac is signed out of their Apple ID. An Activation-Locked Mac can't be set up without the previous owner.
- Ask whether it was a company or school machine. A Mac enrolled in remote management (MDM) can lock itself to that organisation after a reset.
- For a laptop, ask for the battery cycle count and condition from System Information, and check the photos for screen coating wear and dents on the corners.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (Apple or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
- Enter the serial number on Apple's coverage check page to confirm the model and any remaining coverage.
New
- Check the box is sealed and the serial on the box matches the listing, then check coverage with Apple once it arrives.
- Very low prices on "new" Macs from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
