The WD Black SN850X is one of the most-listed high-end NVMe drives on eBay. It is sold under two brand names and several part numbers. The heatsink and bare versions sit side by side in search results, and a PS5-marketed sibling carries "SN850X" in its title. All of that makes it easy to misread a listing.

This page filters a live eBay feed down to single 2TB SN850X drives from US sellers with established feedback, with or without the heatsink. It excludes other capacities, listings that name several capacities at once, the SN850P, multi-drive lots, parts-only and untested drives, and empty boxes. Use the condition chips to switch between Used, Refurbished and New. Prices in the table are asking prices from currently-active listings, not completed sales.

Which WD Black SN850X you're actually buying

Capacity first. The SN850X is sold in several capacities under one name, and sellers write the 2TB model as 2TB or 2 TB. The listing's item specifics usually carry a Storage Capacity field. On the listings inspected for this page it read 2TB on one and 2 TB on another, so read it as a number, not an exact string. Check that field rather than trusting the title.

Watch for listings that name several capacities at once. Titles like "SN850X 1TB 2TB" or "1TB 2TB 4TB" are multi-variation listings. The price shown in search results belongs to one of those variants, and not necessarily the 2TB one. This page excludes them for that reason. If you open one yourself, select 2TB on the listing page and check the price again before you commit.

Two brand names, same drive. Many listings on this search are titled "SanDisk WD_BLACK SN850X". Others say "Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850X", and a few use both. Both kinds turn up in the same price range and describe the same drive. The brand on the box is not by itself a sign of a fake or a grey-market unit.

The part number is the most precise identifier. Three 2TB part numbers turn up on this search:

• WDS200T2XHE: listings quoting it describe the heatsink version.
• WDS200T2X0E: listings quoting it don't mention a heatsink. This is the bare M.2 2280 stick.
• WDBB9G0020BNC: appears on both New and Refurbished listings. We haven't verified which retail version this number denotes. If it matters to you (for example, because you need the bare stick to fit under a laptop cover), ask the seller for a photo of the drive itself.

Heatsink and bare versions are the same 2TB SN850X, and this page shows both. The heatsink version is taller than a bare stick, so confirm it clears wherever it's going. Sellers often market either version for the PS5. A laptop or a motherboard slot under its own cover plate is a different matter: measure first.

The drives that aren't a 2TB SN850X

• SN850P. A separate WD_BLACK SKU. The one listing seen on this search was marketed as an "Official PS5" drive and titled "SN850P (SN850X)", so the title contains the name you searched for. It is a different part number, and the feed excludes it. If you specifically want the SN850P, search for it by name.
• SN850 (no X). The earlier WD_BLACK drive. The feed requires "SN850X" in the title, so a plain SN850 listing won't appear here. If you're browsing eBay directly, check for the X.
• Other capacities. 1TB and 4TB SN850X listings share the same searches. Their prices sit on either side of the 2TB model, so a mislabelled one can look like a deal, or like a rip-off.

Used vs refurbished vs new WD Black SN850X 2TB

Used is a real share of this feed. For an SSD, "used" covers a wide range. There are no moving parts, but the flash memory wears with writes, and a drive's cosmetic condition tells you nothing about how much of that wear has been used up. Some sellers on this search put a health figure in the title ("100% Health"). Others describe the drive as "Excellent" or say it came out of a PC or laptop. A drive pulled from a laptop is the same drive a desktop takes, and this page deliberately keeps those listings. What it cannot do is filter on health: the profile can't see it. It's up to you to ask (see below).

Refurbished collapses several eBay grades into one chip. The grade describes the drive's state as judged by whoever refurbished it, and the listing won't necessarily say who that was. Read that line on any refurbished listing. US refurbished supply for this drive is thin, so the Refurbished chip may often be empty.

New on this page includes Open box. For a component, open box means unused but unsealed, which is a New-tier purchase rather than a category of its own. The chips read the listing title as well as eBay's condition dropdown, and the title wins. A drive whose title says "sealed" buckets as New even if the dropdown says otherwise. One whose title says "as is" or "untested" is pulled out of the priced buckets entirely rather than being averaged into Used.

What this WD Black SN850X 2TB feed filters out, and why it matters

Every pattern below came out of the live listing data while this page's filter was being built.

Asking prices far above the going rate. By a wide margin, this was the largest group of rejected listings. They were "new" drives at well above what the rest of the New bucket was asking, many of them at double or more. Several shared an identical generic title across different listings. The feed has a price ceiling for that reason. It's there to keep the page readable, not as a judgment on any individual seller.

Low-feedback sellers. The next-largest group was accounts with little or no feedback history, several with attractive prices and "100% Health" or "New Sealed" in the title. This page requires established seller feedback. That drops some honest first-time sellers along with the rest. It's a deliberate trade.

Any condition. Confirm Storage Capacity in the item specifics, and check the part number against the list above. Decide whether you want the heatsink version, and check that it physically fits where it's going. Confirm the seller accepts returns. A drive that isn't detected, or that reports poor health on arrival, is something you want to be able to send back.

Used. Ask for a screenshot of the drive's health report from a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo or the manufacturer's own drive utility, taken by the seller on this specific drive. The fields that matter are the health or percentage-used figure, total data written, and power-on hours. A title that says "100% health" with no screenshot behind it is a claim, not evidence. Plan to check the health yourself as soon as the drive arrives, while the return window is open.

Refurbished. Establish who did the refurbishment and what warranty comes with it, and whether that warranty comes from the manufacturer or from a distributor. "Refurbished" with no named refurbisher and no warranty is "used" by another name, and should be priced like used. Ask for the same health screenshot as for a used drive.

New. Ask whether it's sealed, and check that the part number on the box matches the listing. Consumer SSD warranties are typically limited by both time and total data written. Listings for this drive carry both the Western Digital and SanDisk names. Check the current warranty terms with the company named on the box, including whether a claim needs proof of purchase from an authorised seller, before you count on it for a drive bought second-hand.

On price. The heatsink and bare versions both sit in this feed, and in the listings seen here the heatsink version tended to ask more for the same drive. Read the table by condition bucket rather than anchoring on the single lowest number. Treat a listing far below the rest of the Used bucket as a question to ask the seller, not an opportunity.
