How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 122 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 91 of 122 (~75%) for quality reasons. The remaining 31 are what we'd actually surface.
- 75 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 8 shipped from a region we exclude
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 3 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Dreamcast) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 105 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Dreamcast) because they are: that's the noise.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release & saves. Capcom's 2000 Dreamcast port of the arcade tag fighter, released in the US as Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes on a single GD-ROM. There is no save on the disc: progress, including the shop unlocks toward the full 56-character roster, saves to a VMU or other Dreamcast memory card. Check that the product code on the disc and the back insert matches the US release.
- Japanese copies are the main price trap. The Japanese release is common on eBay and asks well below US copies. Region words like "Japan", "NTSC-J", "w/ spine" or "obi" (the Japanese spine card) give it away. A US Dreamcast won't boot a Japanese disc without a region workaround, so read the title and the back insert before you buy.
- Registration card. Many US CIB listings call out the registration card in the title, and those copies ask more. If the card matters to you, look for it in the photos.
- Unlocked-VMU listings. Some sellers pair the disc with a memory card that already has every character unlocked. The memory card is a separate item. It doesn't make the game disc more complete.
- "1 & 2" sets. Listings that pair this game with the original Marvel vs. Capcom are multi-game sets. The feed leaves them out so single-copy prices stay comparable.
Buying Dreamcast games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Dreamcast disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
