How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 17 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 4 of 17 (~24%) for quality reasons. The remaining 13 are what we'd actually surface.
- 3 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Toy Commander (Dreamcast) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 89 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Toy Commander (Dreamcast) because they are: that's the noise.

Toy Commander: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release: Toy Commander is a 1999 Dreamcast action game from No Cliché, published by Sega. This page tracks the US (NTSC-U/C) release.
- Saves: it stores progress on a VMU memory card, not on the disc. A VMU is not part of the game, so don't expect one in a CIB listing.
- Print variants: check the product code and region mark on the case and disc against the US release. If a listing claims a special or reprint run, treat any premium as the seller's claim until the photos back it up.
- Listing traps: the title is often sold inside multi-game Dreamcast lots, and sometimes as a PAL copy from European or Australian shops. The feed rejects both, but an oddly worded title can still slip through. Check the photos for the NTSC-U/C mark before paying a sealed premium.
- Sealed copies: asking prices for factory-sealed copies vary widely between sellers. Cracked cases and shrink damage show up in listings and are worth asking about.
Buying Dreamcast games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Dreamcast disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
