How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 648 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 608 of 648 (~94%) for quality reasons. The remaining 40 are what we'd actually surface.
- 560 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 31 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 8 shipped from a region we exclude
- 5 priced above the curated ceiling
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Dark Souls (PS3) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 113 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Dark Souls (PS3) because they are: that's the noise.

Dark Souls: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release & save: FromSoftware's 2011 PS3 release, published in North America by Namco Bandai. It saves to the console's hard drive, so there is no cartridge battery or memory card to worry about. Check that the case and disc say the US (NTSC-U/C) release.
- Print variants: the original retail release, a later budget-priced Greatest Hits reprint, and special editions such as the Limited Edition and the Artorias of the Abyss edition all exist. Expect sealed and special-edition copies to ask well above a standard disc, and read the title to see which one the seller means.
- Listing traps: sequels share the name, so Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III turn up in the same searches, as do Demon's Souls and the later Scholar of the First Sin release. Mixed lots and "1 & 2" sets, loose soundtracks and art books, and Japanese or PAL copies appear under the same title, so confirm the region on the case before buying.
Buying PlayStation 3 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation 3 disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
