How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one model. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different model that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 54 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 38 of 54 (~70%) for quality reasons. The remaining 16 are what we'd actually surface.
- 28 listed in the wrong eBay category (an accessory or part, not the item)
- 4 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 4 priced above the curated ceiling
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Dell XPS 15 9520 returns far more than the model itself: chargers, cases, replacement screens, logic boards and locked machines all mention it in their titles. These are the 8 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Dell XPS 15 9520 because they are: that's the noise.

Dell XPS 15 9520: buyer & reseller spec sheet
Telling it apart. The 9520 is the 15-inch XPS in the 9500, 9510, 9520 and 9530 line, and sellers often paste neighbouring model numbers into titles. Check the model name on the bottom label or in the system-information screenshot rather than trusting the headline. The feed requires "XPS" and "9520" in the title and drops titles that also name 9500, 9510 or 9530, so a few honest listings that mention two models fall out.
Configurations that move the price. One model name covers many builds, and the asking-price spread is wide. The levers are the processor tier, the graphics option (some units list discrete graphics, others integrated only), memory, storage size and the display panel. Touch and OLED panels are listed separately by sellers and tend to ask more than the standard panel. Refurbished-grade listings usually include an SSD and Windows install, while some used units say "no charger" or "no OS". Compare like with like before calling anything a deal.
Traps seen while tuning. Searching this model returns mostly accessories and spares that name it: chargers, batteries, covers, fans, screens and motherboards. The feed keeps only laptops filed under eBay's PC Laptops category and drops motherboard listings by title. Some honest used units disclose battery wear in the title, so read the description.
Buying a used laptop: what to check
These checks apply to every model on our laptop pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.
Used
- Ask for a screenshot of the system information showing the exact CPU, graphics card, memory and storage. Listings often name the top configuration of a model line.
- Ask whether a BIOS or firmware password is set. A locked BIOS can make the machine impossible to reinstall or upgrade.
- Confirm Windows is activated, or price in a license if it isn't.
- For a laptop, ask for a battery report (powercfg /batteryreport on Windows) showing design versus current capacity.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (the manufacturer or a third party), how long the warranty is, and whether the battery or storage was replaced.
New
- Check the box is sealed and register the serial for warranty as soon as it arrives.
