HP EliteBook 840 G8 — Price Guide & Live Deals

HP EliteBook 840 G8: buyer & reseller spec sheet

Identity. The model name is printed on the lid or bottom label, and the About or System Information screen shows it as EliteBook 840 G8. Titles that say 840 G7, G9 or G10 are different machines. Sellers sometimes list one chassis for several generations, so check the model line in the photos instead of trusting the title alone. Parts for this laptop are often titled "840 G7 G8" as well, which is why a very low price on a listing that never shows the whole machine usually means a part.

Configurations & value impact. Listings of this one model vary a lot in price. The processor tier, memory, storage size, touchscreen or non-touch panel, and whether Windows is installed all move the asking price. Bulk refurbishers often list a range such as 16-32GB RAM or 512GB-2TB SSD under a single price, so confirm the exact configuration you will receive before comparing against a listing with fixed specs. Some Used listings ship without a charger or operating system, which explains part of the low end of the range.

Traps seen while tuning. Many listings that name this model are really batteries, palmrests, screens, motherboards or lid skins. Multi-unit lots also appear with bare machines missing RAM and storage.
