HP EliteBook 840 G7 — Price Guide & Live Deals

HP EliteBook 840 G7: buyer & reseller spec sheet

Telling it from its siblings. The generation is the "G7" in the model name, and sellers write it differently: "840 G7" is the honest tell, while "G8" listings are the next generation and a different machine. Check the model name on the bottom label or in the system-information screen rather than trusting the title, because sellers sometimes list two generations in one title ("840 G7 G8") for accessories and parts.

What moves the price. Within one model name the configurations vary a lot. Memory and storage size matter most, then the processor tier, then whether the screen is a touch panel. Refurbished-grade listings from business resellers usually ask more than individual used sellers, and the same machine can span a wide price range depending on RAM and SSD. Compare like for like: filter to the same memory and storage before judging a deal.

Traps seen while tuning. Sellers list machines with the RAM or SSD missing, sometimes in the description only, so read the full title and photos. Multi-unit lots and "no OS" or "read description" listings are common at the cheap end; the tracker screens out the obvious ones, but check what is actually included. Also confirm the processor named in the title matches the one in the screenshots.
