How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one model. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different model that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 104 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 64 of 104 (~62%) for quality reasons. The remaining 40 are what we'd actually surface.
- 57 listed in the wrong eBay category (an accessory or part, not the item)
- 4 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Lenovo ThinkPad T490s returns far more than the model itself: chargers, cases, replacement screens, logic boards and locked machines all mention it in their titles. These are the 13 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Lenovo ThinkPad T490s because they are: that's the noise.

ThinkPad T490s: buyer & reseller spec sheet
Telling it apart. The T490s is a 14 inch ThinkPad, and its name is one character away from the T490, a different model. Check the model line on the bottom label or in the system-information screen, not just the listing title. Sellers also reuse the T490s name in titles for the T495s and for parts that merely fit it.
What moves the price. Processor tier (Core i5 versus Core i7), memory and SSD size are the main levers; more of each costs more. Touchscreen and non-touch panels are both sold under the same model name, so confirm which one you are getting. Cosmetic grade varies a lot from seller to seller.
Traps seen while tuning. Plenty of listings are for a bare machine with no SSD, a cracked panel or a known port fault; the tracker drops the common phrasings, but read the description anyway. Asking prices on refurbished listings sometimes sit far above comparable used units, so compare across conditions before treating a listing as a deal.
Buying a used laptop: what to check
These checks apply to every model on our laptop pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.
Used
- Ask for a screenshot of the system information showing the exact CPU, graphics card, memory and storage. Listings often name the top configuration of a model line.
- Ask whether a BIOS or firmware password is set. A locked BIOS can make the machine impossible to reinstall or upgrade.
- Confirm Windows is activated, or price in a license if it isn't.
- For a laptop, ask for a battery report (powercfg /batteryreport on Windows) showing design versus current capacity.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (the manufacturer or a third party), how long the warranty is, and whether the battery or storage was replaced.
New
- Check the box is sealed and register the serial for warranty as soon as it arrives.
