How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 15 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 10 of 15 (~67%) for quality reasons. The remaining 5 are what we'd actually surface.
- 8 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Shining the Holy Ark (Saturn) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 97 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Shining the Holy Ark (Saturn) because they are: that's the noise.

Shining the Holy Ark: collector & reseller spec sheet
- US release, 1997. The North American Saturn release is a first-person dungeon RPG and one of the Saturn's pricier English RPGs. Asking prices for a complete copy sit well above a disc-only copy, and sealed or graded copies sit far above both.
- Japanese copies are the main trap. The Japanese release is listed under the identical English title, often with "SS", "spine card" or "Sonic" in the listing and a very low price. The feed rejects Japan-located sellers and common import wording, but a bare-title import can still slip through, so confirm the NTSC-U/C label and English text in the photos before paying US prices.
- Saves. Progress is kept on the Saturn side (internal backup memory or a memory cart), not on the disc, so a working disc is what you are buying. Ask for a clear photo of the data side, since cracks around the inner ring are the main disc risk.
- Print variants. No variant naming is claimed here. Check the product code on the case spine and disc against a known-authentic US listing.
- Strategy guide and promo items. Official guide books and promo cards carry the game's name in the title; they are a different product from the game.
- Sister titles. Shining Force III and Shining Wisdom are separate Saturn games with their own feeds.
Buying Sega Saturn games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Sega Saturn disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
