How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 52 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 32 of 52 (~62%) for quality reasons. The remaining 20 are what we'd actually surface.
- 22 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 4 shipped from a region we exclude
- 4 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Golden Sun: The Lost Age (GBA) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 117 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Golden Sun: The Lost Age (GBA) because they are: that's the noise.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Saves on the cartridge. Progress is stored on the cart itself, so ask the seller to confirm a save survives a power-off. The sequel continues from a password or link-cable transfer carried over from Golden Sun, but the game stands on its own.
- Product code. A US cart's label code ends in
-USA. Check it matches the US release rather than a European or Japanese one. - CIB means the map too. Complete listings often call out the fold-out world map, titled "map" or "poster". A box-and-cart copy without it is not fully complete, so ask for it to be priced below a true CIB.
- Print variants. A later budget or re-release print may exist. Without a clear label photo you cannot tell which you are buying, so ask for one before paying a collector premium.
- Traps seen in the feed. Near-identical "GB-GBA-NDS" cart listings, often marked "Brand New", sell far below the going asking price. Treat any copy well under the normal range as a reproduction. Jumbled titles such as "Age of Lost" turn out to be Japanese copies. The feed drops both, along with two-game sets and standalone strategy guides.
Buying Game Boy Advance games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy Advance cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
