How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 9 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 4 of 9 (~44%) for quality reasons. The remaining 5 are what we'd actually surface.
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (GBA) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 96 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (GBA) because they are: that's the noise.

F-Zero Maximum Velocity: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and product code. A US launch-era Game Boy Advance title from 2001. The US cartridge label carries the code
AGB-AFZE-USA; a code endingJPN(such asAGB-AFZJ-JPN) is the Japanese release, which is a different, differently priced game on the shelf. - Save mechanism. The cart keeps records on its own save memory, and sellers do offer "new save battery" copies. Treat any seller claim about the save as unverified until you can test it; check that the label and product code match the US release.
- Print variants. Reprint or budget-line variants may exist; ask for a photo of the label and compare it with a known authentic copy before paying a premium for any claimed variant.
- Title-specific traps. Loose carts dominate this title's listings, so a "complete" asking price should come with photos of the box and manual. Listings for the manual alone, or box-and-manual without the cart, appear under this title constantly: read the full title, and the photos, before buying. Titles with "NOT FOR RESALE" describe a promotional copy and are priced differently from retail.
- Not to be confused with F-Zero on other hardware: F-Zero X is the N64 game and F-Zero GX the GameCube game.
Buying Game Boy Advance games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy Advance cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
