How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 148 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 79 of 148 (~53%) for quality reasons. The remaining 69 are what we'd actually surface.
- 28 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 24 shipped from a region we exclude
- 12 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 11 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 105 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA) because they are: that's the noise.

Zelda: The Minish Cap: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and saves. The Japanese release is Fushigi no Boushi, product code AGB-BZMJ. Check that the code on the cart label matches the US release, not the Japanese one. The game saves your progress on the cartridge, so ask the seller to confirm a save holds after power-off; "tested" often only means it boots.
- Print variants. Most of what the feed shows is the standard US retail cart. Sealed and graded (WATA, PSA) copies ask several times what a complete copy asks. "Not for Resale" carts turn up now and then at a premium; for playing, a standard US cart is the same game.
- The cheap "Brand New" trap. Many listings use eBay's catalog title, "Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (Game Boy Advance, 2005) GBA", with the condition set to Brand New and an ask that's a small fraction of what an authentic loose cart asks. Treat them as reproductions. The feed's price floor drops them, but a seller who raises the price can still get through, so check the label and board photos on any cheap "new" copy.
- Japanese copies. Japan-based sellers often list the Japanese cart under the English title. The feed drops Japan-located listings and titles that say Japanese, JP or Fushigi no Boushi. If a listing doesn't show the label, ask for a photo before you buy.
Buying Game Boy Advance games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy Advance cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
