How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 794 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 589 of 794 (~74%) for quality reasons. The remaining 205 are what we'd actually surface.
- 324 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 185 shipped from a region we exclude
- 43 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 17 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 9 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 6 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 2 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Pokemon LeafGreen (GBA) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 108 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Pokemon LeafGreen (GBA) because they are: that's the noise.

Pokemon LeafGreen: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and saves. US carts carry the code AGB-BPGE-USA; the Japanese release is AGB-BPGJ-JPN. Check the label matches the US code. The game saves to the cartridge, so ask the seller to confirm a save holds after power-off; "tested" often only means it boots.
- What a complete copy holds. A complete US box includes a fold-out map poster, and retail copies were packaged with the GBA Wireless Adapter. Sellers list the adapter separately in the title ("w/ Wireless Adapter", "No Adapter"), and copies without it ask less. Read the photos to see which you're getting.
- The cheap "Brand New" trap. Listings titled "Pokemon Leaf Green Version Cartridge for Game Boy Advance (GBA) Tested & Saves!" set to Brand New and asking a small fraction of an authentic loose cart are reproductions. The feed's price floor drops them, but a seller who raises the price can still get through, so check label and board photos on any cheap "new" copy.
- Japanese copies and pairs. Japan-based sellers list the Japanese cart under English titles, or as "Pocket Monster Leaf Green". The feed drops Japan-located listings and titles that say Japanese or JP. LeafGreen + FireRed pairs are common and left out so per-game prices stay clean.
Buying Game Boy Advance games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy Advance cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
