- Saves on the cartridge. Progress is stored on the cart itself, and cartridges this old can lose saves. One listing in our preview was titled "DRY BATTERY". Ask the seller to confirm a save survives a power-off before you pay a "tested" premium.
- Product code. A US cart's label code ends in
-USA; one US listing in our preview showedAGB-AAME-USA. Japanese carts readAGB-AAMJand sell under the Japanese title Akumajo Dracula; they price differently, so the feed leaves them out. - Flash-save listings. A few listings advertise "Flash Drive Save" on an "authentic" cart. That describes a modified cart, not an untouched original. Ask what was changed before paying a collector's price.
- Brazil release. A Brazilian edition from Gradiente/Playtronic sells at a large premium over US copies. It is a different product, so the feed drops it.
- Easy to mix up. Aria of Sorrow is a separate GBA cart with its own page. The feed also drops Harmony of Dissonance and the Double Pack, plus lots that bundle Circle of the Moon with other games.

- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
