How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 494 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 407 of 494 (~82%) for quality reasons. The remaining 87 are what we'd actually surface.
- 385 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 8 shipped from a region we exclude
- 5 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 4 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Super Mario Advance (GBA) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Super Mario Advance (GBA) because they are: that's the noise.

Super Mario Advance: collector & reseller spec sheet
- What it is: the first game in the Super Mario Advance line, a Game Boy Advance launch-era release from 2001 that remakes Super Mario Bros. 2 and adds a Mario Bros. mode. Sellers often label it "Super Mario Advance 1".
- Easy to confuse with its sequels: the numbered follow-ups ship as separate titles with their own listings: Super Mario Advance 4 is the one with its own page here. Check the title says plain "Super Mario Advance" (or "1"), not "2", "3" or "4", and not a title that only has "Game Boy Advance" in the name, such as Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
- Product code: check the code on the label matches the US release before paying a premium; a US-region seller can still list an import.
- Saves: ask the seller to confirm the cartridge saves and loads; a photo of a save file is a better signal than "tested".
- Print variants: different prints may exist; don't pay extra for any print without clear label photos.
- Listing trap seen while tuning: bundle titles that name several Mario Advance games in one listing, or list unrelated games after the Mario title. The feed rejects these, but check the item photos when a title looks like a multi-game listing.
Buying Game Boy Advance games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy Advance cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
