How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 86 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 19 of 86 (~22%) for quality reasons. The remaining 67 are what we'd actually surface.
- 14 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 102 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) because they are: that's the noise.

Sonic and the Secret Rings: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release: SEGA published it for the Wii in North America in 2007. The US disc carries the NTSC-U/C region marking, and listings often quote the disc code
RVL-RSRE-USA. - Save mechanism: progress saves to the Wii's internal memory, so there is no cartridge battery to worry about. A disc-only copy loses nothing but the case and manual.
- Print variants: a Target-exclusive edition with a bonus disc has been listed, and sellers sometimes call it rare. Treat a "rare" label as an asking-price claim rather than a market price, and compare it against standard complete copies.
- Listing traps: the title is often bundled or listed next to other Wii games, so check that the headline copy is this game and not a lot. Sellers also mix up the US disc with Japanese or region-locked copies, so look for the NTSC-U/C marking and a US ship-from location.
Sonic Colors is a separate Wii release with its own page.
Buying Wii games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Wii disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
