Sonic Heroes: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and saves. Sega's team-based 3D Sonic game, released in the US on GameCube in 2003 and also on PS2, Xbox and PC. The GameCube disc is a standard mini-disc; check that the product code on the case and disc matches the US release. Progress saves to a GameCube memory card, not the disc.
- Print variants. An original-print copy and a later Player's Choice budget reprint both exist, and sellers also write "Black Label". Sealed asking prices run well above used ones; compare like with like, and treat graded sealed copies as their own market.
- Don't confuse the platform. The same title shipped on other consoles. The feed rejects titles naming those platforms, but check the platform on any listing that just says "Sonic Heroes".
- Listing traps seen while tuning. Case-only, manual-only and cover-art-only listings carry the full game name at a few dollars, and "memory card save" listings sell a save file, not the game. Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
