How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 115 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 67 of 115 (~58%) for quality reasons. The remaining 48 are what we'd actually surface.
- 34 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 14 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 9 shipped from a region we exclude
- 7 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for F-Zero X (N64) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 97 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to F-Zero X (N64) because they are: that's the noise.

F-Zero X: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Saves on a battery in the cart. Records and ghost data save to the cartridge, with no Controller Pak needed, and that save runs on a coin-cell battery. After 25+ years many originals have gone flat, so sellers list "new battery" or "working save battery". On any loose copy, ask whether saves hold after a power-off, or budget for a swap.
- Check the label is the US release. Japanese carts often turn up from US sellers, sometimes titled only "F-Zero X N64" or "imported". N64 carts are region-keyed, so check that the label's product code ends in USA before you pay. The feed leaves Japanese and PAL copies out.
- The Expansion Kit is a different product. The F-Zero X Expansion Kit is a Japan-only 64DD disk add-on, not a cart, and needs the 64DD drive. It shows up in F-Zero X searches at far higher asking prices, so the feed excludes it.
- Graded copies skew the top end. PSA, VGA and CGC-graded CIB and sealed copies ask several times a raw copy's price. Compare graded listings with each other, not with raw ones.
Buying Nintendo 64 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo 64 cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
