AMD Ryzen 5 5600X — Price Guide & Live Deals

The Ryzen 5 5600X is AMD's 6-core, 12-thread desktop processor for the AM4 socket. It's one of the most common chips on the used market, because a lot of AM4 builds used it and then upgraded. On eBay, "5600X" also turns up in whole gaming PCs, CPU-and-motherboard combos, listings that sell several different Ryzen models at once, and sibling chips with nearly the same name. This page filters a live eBay feed down to single 5600X processors from US sellers with established feedback.

Which Ryzen 5 5600X you're actually buying

Three sibling chips share most of the name. All three are separate AM4 processors, and each is one or two characters away from this one in a title:

• The Ryzen 5 5600 (no X) is a separate, cheaper chip.
• The Ryzen 5 5600X3D adds AMD's stacked 3D V-Cache. It usually asks more, and in this feed's raw data it was the sibling that showed up most often.
• The Ryzen 5 5600G has integrated graphics. The 5600X doesn't.

This feed excludes all three, plus other Ryzen models. Before you buy, check the Processor Model field in the item specifics and the model printed on the chip in the photos. It should say 5600X, with nothing after it.

"5600 X" with a space is common. Some sellers write the name with a space. This feed accepts that spelling. The chip photo and part number are what confirm it.

Part numbers. The part numbers quoted in this feed's listings all contain the same model code, 65. Examples are 100-000000065 and 100-100000065BOX. Sellers sometimes drop a zero when typing it into a title. If a listing quotes a part number without that code, ask the seller.

Multi-model listings. Some listings put a whole list of Ryzen models in one title ("3600 3600X 5500 5600 5600X 5600G...") and let you pick one. The price shown is for one option, not necessarily the 5600X. This feed excludes them.

Don't confuse it with an AM5 chip. The Ryzen 5 7600X has a similar name but uses AMD's newer AM5 socket and won't fit an AM4 motherboard.

Used vs refurbished vs new Ryzen 5 5600X

Used is most of this market. A used 5600X might be the bare chip in a clamshell, the chip in its original box, or the box with the stock cooler. Several listings say outright that the cooler isn't included. What comes with the chip explains much of the price spread within Used.

Refurbished was essentially absent when this page was built. If a listing says refurbished, ask who refurbished it and what the warranty covers. A processor has little to refurbish, so the warranty is most of what you're paying for.

New comes in two forms. Boxed retail listings advertise the Wraith Stealth cooler in the box. Tray or OEM listings are the bare chip, with no retail box or cooler, and usually ask less. New asking prices spread widely, and some boxed listings ask far more than a used chip. Compare a New price against the Used table first. The gap between the two is what the seal is costing you.

What this Ryzen 5 5600X feed filters out, and why

Every pattern below showed up in the live listing data while this page's filter was being built.

Whole PCs. Gaming towers and prebuilt desktops built around a 5600X make up a large share of the search results, because the CPU is the headline part. They're excluded by title wording and by the price ceiling.

CPU-and-motherboard combos. Many listings sell the chip with an AM4 motherboard, RAM, a graphics card or all three. They're excluded because the price covers more than the processor.

Bent pins. At least one "new" tray chip was listed with bent pins in the title. Listings that mention bent or missing pins, or are sold for parts, untested or broken, are excluded.

The 5600X3D. It lists alongside the 5600X constantly. It's a different chip and is excluded.

Sellers outside the US. Much of the raw supply for this search ships from overseas, often as near-identical listings with templated titles. This feed only shows US-located sellers with established feedback.

Extreme asking prices. Some listings ask several times the typical price for this chip, including used ones described as "unused". The feed's price ceiling hides the most extreme of them.

Ryzen 5 5600X: before you buy

Any condition. Confirm your motherboard supports the 5600X before you buy. Older AM4 boards may need a BIOS update first, so check your board maker's CPU support list for your exact model. The 5600X has no integrated graphics, so you'll need a separate graphics card. Check whether a cooler is included; the listing should say.

Used. AM4 processors have their pins on the chip itself, and a bent pin is the most common way a used CPU goes wrong. Ask for sharp, close-up photos of the pin side, not stock images. Check that it will ship in a clamshell or foam, not loose in an envelope. Ask whether the seller tested it in a working system, and confirm they accept returns.

Refurbished. Establish who refurbished it and what the warranty is, as above.

New. Check whether the listing is boxed or tray. That decides whether you get a cooler and a retail box. For boxed, ask for photos of the seal and the box label showing the part number.

On price. Read the price table by condition bucket rather than anchoring on the single lowest number in the feed. A cheap listing is more often a bare chip with no box or cooler, or a seller with less history, than a bargain on the same processor.
