Exact SKU identity. The 7900X is a 12-core, 24-thread desktop processor for the AM5 socket. Its name nests inside the Ryzen 9 7900X3D, a different chip with stacked cache that usually asks more, and some sellers write it as "7900 X 3D". This feed excludes the X3D chip, but if a listing is ambiguous, check the model printed on the chip in the photos and the part number in the listing. Don't rely on the title alone.
Variants & value impact. Retail boxed, "WOF" part-number and OEM tray listings all show up. A tray chip usually ships without a cooler or retail packaging and often asks less. Whether the original box is included explains some of the asking-price spread within Used. Open box listings are counted with New on this page, so read the description to see whether the chip was ever installed.
Listing traps. Whole gaming PCs, prebuilt towers and CPU-and-motherboard combos list under this CPU's name because it is the headline part. They are excluded by title wording and by the price ceiling. Listings for the empty retail box alone also appear, and the filter drops them. Some "not working" and "as is" chips are priced close to working ones, so ask for sharp photos of both sides of the chip and confirm your motherboard's BIOS supports it.
