Eternal Darkness: collector & reseller spec sheet
- The game. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem was developed by Silicon Knights and published by Nintendo in 2002. It is rated M, which is part of why it gets searched alongside survival-horror titles.
- Saves. GameCube discs don't store saves. Progress goes to a GameCube Memory Card in the console, so there is no save battery to worry about.
- Product code. Japanese copies show up with a
DOL-P-GEDJcode. On a US copy, check that the code on the disc and case ends in-USA. - Imports are the main price trap. The Japanese release, sold under a different subtitle, asks a fraction of the US price, and many listings come from sellers in Japan with plain English titles. Sealed Korean copies also turn up well below US sealed prices. - Rental copies. Ex-Blockbuster copies with rental cases or stickers appear; they are genuine discs but usually ask less than a clean retail CIB.
Buying GameCube games: what to check by condition

Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
