How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 161 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 150 of 161 (~93%) for quality reasons. The remaining 11 are what we'd actually surface.
- 122 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 22 shipped from a region we exclude
- 3 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Phantasy Star Online Ep. I & II (GameCube) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 109 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Phantasy Star Online Ep. I & II (GameCube) because they are: that's the noise.

Phantasy Star Online: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Save mechanism: progress is stored on a GameCube memory card, not on the disc. Honest complete copies are often sold with a card or registration paperwork; the disc alone has no save to verify.
- Plus vs standard: sellers list both plain "Episode I & II" and "Plus" copies under similar titles, and asking prices differ between them. Read the label in the photos rather than trusting the title, and compare like with like.
- Online play: the original online service is long gone, so a listing that promises "online ready" is selling the original broadband hardware or nostalgia, not a working service. Treat that wording as a premium you are not getting.
- Not the same game: the Dreamcast original lives on its own page, Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast). Xbox copies of Episode I & II and the separate Episode III card game also turn up in searches with near-identical titles.
- Listing traps seen while tuning: in-game item or character "save" listings that carry the game's full title, and "Modem Variant" sealed listings priced far above any normal copy. Neither is a standard retail disc.
- Prints: check that the disc and case are the US release; the feed rejects Japanese copies by seller location and title words, but a bare title can still slip through from an overseas reseller.
Buying GameCube games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every GameCube disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
