How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 116 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 88 of 116 (~76%) for quality reasons. The remaining 28 are what we'd actually surface.
- 72 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 7 shipped from a region we exclude
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 priced above the curated ceiling
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Def Jam: Fight for NY (PS2) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 97 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Def Jam: Fight for NY (PS2) because they are: that's the noise.

Def Jam: Fight for NY: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release: the US PlayStation 2 version from EA Games came out in 2004. Progress saves to a PS2 memory card, not the disc.
- Prints: sellers describe at least two US prints, an original "Black Label" release and a later "Greatest Hits" budget reprint. Labelling is inconsistent, so judge a copy by the photos of the case and disc, not the title alone, and don't pay a premium for a print you can't see in the pictures.
- Traps seen in this niche:
- Memory cards sold as "completed saves" carry the game's name but contain no game.
- Demo discs and Jampack compilation discs use the same title text.
- Case-only, manual-only and case-art listings are common, so confirm a disc is actually included.
- Other Def Jam titles, including the PSP The Takeover and Vendetta, turn up in the same searches.
- Graded sealed copies carry asking prices far above any played copy. Read the grade and cert details before comparing them with loose or CIB.
Buying PlayStation 2 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation 2 disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
