How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 499 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 266 of 499 (~53%) for quality reasons. The remaining 233 are what we'd actually surface.
- 212 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 16 shipped from a region we exclude
- 15 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 12 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 5 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 4 priced above the curated ceiling
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec (PS2) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 97 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec (PS2) because they are: that's the noise.

Gran Turismo 3: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Save mechanism: progress saves to a PS2 memory card, not the disc. A listing that says "with memory card" is selling a second item, so account for it when comparing asking prices.
- Print variants: the US release has an original print and later budget reprints. Greatest Hits and Black Label copies both turn up in listings and are by far the more common. A listing claiming the original print deserves a close look at the photos before you pay a premium.
- Import trap: Japanese copies are region-locked and won't boot on a US console. Many are titled just "Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec PS2", sometimes from sellers in Japan. The feed rejects Japanese-labelled copies and Japan-located sellers, but confirm the NTSC-U/C marking on the case before paying.
- Not this game: Gran Turismo 4 and later entries are separate releases, and some listings pair one of them with a GT3 disc. The feed rejects titles naming them.
Buying PlayStation 2 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation 2 disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
