Ratchet & Clank: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and saving: the first Ratchet & Clank, developed by Insomniac Games for the PS2 in 2002. Progress saves to a PS2 memory card; there is no save battery in the disc. Check that the product code printed on the disc and case matches the US (NTSC-U/C) release.
- Print variants: an original Black Label print and a later Greatest Hits budget reprint both circulate. Both are common, and asking prices for either are usually close; the sealed copies are the outliers. Match the label and case art in the listing photos to the variant you want rather than trusting the title.
- Sequel mix-ups: the sequels reuse the series name in their titles, and some sellers list the first game as "Ratchet & Clank" with a sequel's disc or photos. Look for the first game's name on the disc itself in the photos.
- Japanese copies: Japanese discs are sometimes titled just "Ratchet & Clank" with no region wording. Look for NTSC-J or region-locked notes and a seller location in Japan. The feed rejects Japan-located sellers and common Japanese-copy wording.

Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
