- Title & saving. The US release is titled Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, so sellers list it under both the Roman-numeral and "8" spellings plus the subtitle. Progress saves to a PS2 memory card, not the disc, so there is no battery to worry about.

Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
