How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 659 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 499 of 659 (~76%) for quality reasons. The remaining 160 are what we'd actually surface.
- 450 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 19 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 11 shipped from a region we exclude
- 8 priced above the curated ceiling
- 8 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Final Fantasy XII (PS2) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 106 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Final Fantasy XII (PS2) because they are: that's the noise.

Final Fantasy XII: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Format & save. The US release (Square Enix, 2006) is a PlayStation 2 game that saves to a PlayStation 2 memory card; nothing is stored on the disc. Check that the product code on the disc and spine matches the US NTSC-U/C release.
- Print variants. The original Black Label print, a later Greatest Hits budget reprint and a Collector's Edition (listed by sellers as a steelbook set) all circulate in the US. Sellers label them inconsistently and "CIB" alone doesn't say which one you're getting, so read the spine, disc label and photos.- Japan-import trap. Japanese discs are listed constantly under near-identical titles ("JPN", "NTSC-J", "region locked") at similar asking prices. They won't boot on an unmodified US console. Look for NTSC-U/C in the title or photos.
- Sibling confusion. Final Fantasy XII is often bundled with Final Fantasy X and X-2 in multi-game lots, and the later remaster is on newer hardware. Confirm the listing says PlayStation 2 and names XII alone.
Buying PlayStation 2 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation 2 disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
