How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 369 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 283 of 369 (~77%) for quality reasons. The remaining 86 are what we'd actually surface.
- 211 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 65 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 3 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Need for Speed Underground (PS2) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 101 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Need for Speed Underground (PS2) because they are: that's the noise.

Underground: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and saves: Need for Speed: Underground is an EA racing game released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. Progress saves to a PS2 memory card, so there is no cartridge battery to worry about. Check that the disc label shows the US (NTSC-U/C) release, since PAL and Japanese copies sell at different prices and Japanese discs are region locked.
- Print variants: An original retail print, a Black Label print and a Greatest Hits budget reprint all turn up in listings. Asking prices vary by print, but the title often doesn't say which one you're getting, so look for the print name in the title or photos before comparing prices.
- Listing traps:
- Underground vs Underground 2: The sequel is a separate game with similar cover styling, and its listings share most of the title. The feed rejects titles naming "Underground 2", but confirm the number in the photos. See Need for Speed Underground 2 if that's the one you want.
- Disc-only and bundle listings: Disc-only copies appear beside complete ones, and "1 & 2" bundles price both games together. Read the title for what's included.
Buying PlayStation 2 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation 2 disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
