How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 173 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 153 of 173 (~88%) for quality reasons. The remaining 20 are what we'd actually surface.
- 142 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 11 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Dragon Quest VI (DS) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 118 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Dragon Quest VI (DS) because they are: that's the noise.

Dragon Quest VI: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release & carrier: Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation is the North American Nintendo DS release from Square Enix. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release; the Japanese edition is a different regional release.
- Saves: progress is stored on the cartridge, so a tested working cart matters more than the box.
- Print variants: a Japanese budget reprint exists, but this page tracks US copies only. Confirm from the listing photos what you are getting; the profile does not separate print runs.
- Listing traps seen while tuning: the game appears under other names ("Phantom Land", "Maboroshi no Daichi") and as European "Realms of Reverie" copies, plus multi-game Dragon Quest sets and strategy guides that reuse the title. The feed rejects most of these, but read the title closely on anything priced far from the rest. Sellers also list graded sealed copies, which sit far above ordinary sealed asking prices. Not to be confused with Dragon Quest V or Dragon Quest IV.
Buying Nintendo DS games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo DS cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
