How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 278 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 236 of 278 (~85%) for quality reasons. The remaining 42 are what we'd actually surface.
- 166 missing a required keyword group (e.g. completeness / authenticity)
- 57 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 8 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Final Fantasy III (DS) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Final Fantasy III (DS) because they are: that's the noise.

Final Fantasy III: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Which game this is. The 2006 Nintendo DS release of Final Fantasy III, a 3D remake. It is not the SNES game sold in the US as "Final Fantasy III" (later numbered VI); that one has its own page: Final Fantasy III (SNES).
- Product code. US copies carry an NTR-A…-USA style code on the label. Listings that quote
NTR-AFFE-USAmatch the US release; check the code on the label rather than trusting the title. - Saving. Progress saves to the cartridge itself, so there is no memory card to hunt for. A cart that boots and reaches the save screen is the test to ask a seller about.
- Print variants. Japan issued a budget "Ultimate Hits" reprint, which turns up in import listings. For a US copy, look for the US rating mark and the US product code.
- Listing traps seen on this title.
- Case, manual or registration-card only listings carry the full game name with "No Game" buried in the title or description.
- The Japan-only Crystal Edition DS Lite console is priced far above any cartridge and appears under the same search.
- Strategy guides and promo posters use the game's name and the same artwork.
Buying Nintendo DS games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo DS cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
