Pokemon SoulSilver: collector & reseller spec sheet
SoulSilver is the Lugia half of the Nintendo DS remakes of Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Its pair is Pokemon HeartGold, a separate game with its own page.
- Product code & save. Check that the label's product code matches the US release; the feed filters Japanese product codes. The save lives on the game card itself, so there is no battery to replace.
- Big box vs case. The US retail release shipped with the Pokewalker in a larger outer box. "CIB" covers both a plain case-and-manual copy and the full big box with Pokewalker, and the big box asks far more. Confirm the Pokewalker is in the photos before paying big-box money.
- Not For Resale copies turn up regularly. They are a different item from retail copies, and the feed leaves them out.
- Edited saves. Listings advertising events, "all 493 Pokemon" or a completed Pokedex are real cards sold at a premium for the save file. Compare them separately from plain loose copies.
- Bootlegs. SoulSilver is a heavily counterfeited DS card. A loose copy asking far below the others on this page is the strongest warning sign. Compare the card front and back against a known-authentic photo.
Buying Nintendo DS games: what to check by condition

Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
