-USA. Progress saves to memory on the game card, so there is no save battery to replace. - Release. Pokemon Black Version 2 and its pair, White Version 2, are the 2012 Unova sequels. Japan got them in June 2012 and North America in October 2012.
- Black 2 vs Black. The original Pokemon Black is a different game that usually asks less, and sellers write both as "Pokemon Black". The feed requires "Black 2" or "Black Version 2" in the title and drops Black 2 / White 2 pairs and multi-game sets. Read the card label before buying.
- Case-only sellers. Empty cases, and box-and-manual sets with no game card, are listed often and can ask a large share of a loose card's price. The feed drops the common phrasings ("no game", "no cartridge", "case only"), but confirm the card is in the photos.
- Japanese copies. Japan-based sellers list "Nintendo DS Software Pokemon Black 2" with no region word. The feed drops Japan-located listings and region wording, but check the label on any cheap copy.

Buying Nintendo DS games: what to check by condition

Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
