How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 876 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 684 of 876 (~78%) for quality reasons. The remaining 192 are what we'd actually surface.
- 575 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 55 shipped from a region we exclude
- 34 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 10 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 5 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 3 priced above the curated ceiling
- 2 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Pokemon Diamond (DS) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 105 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Pokemon Diamond (DS) because they are: that's the noise.

Pokemon Diamond: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and save. Check the code on the card label: US cards end in
-USA, while Japanese cards carryNTR-ADAJ-JPN. Progress saves to memory on the game card, so there is no save battery to replace. - Release. Diamond and its twin Pearl launched the Sinnoh generation, in Japan in 2006 and North America in April 2007. Asking prices turn on condition, completeness and proof of authenticity, not print runs.
- The poster. Many complete copies are listed with a fold-out poster, and some sellers flag "no poster" in the title. If a CIB asking price assumes the poster, make sure it is in the photos.
- Japanese copies under generic titles. Japan-based sellers list "Pokemon Diamond Nintendo DS" with no region word, well under US asking prices. They play in Japanese. The feed drops Japan-located listings and region wording, but check the label on any cheap copy.
- Case-only and save-file listings. Empty cases with the manual and inserts sell at close to loose-card prices, so confirm the game card is pictured. Copies sold for a completed save file ask a premium for the data, not the cartridge.
- Bundles. Diamond / Pearl / Platinum sets are common. Those are separate games, so the feed leaves them out.
Buying Nintendo DS games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo DS cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
