How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 199 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 162 of 199 (~81%) for quality reasons. The remaining 37 are what we'd actually surface.
- 108 shipped from a region we exclude
- 40 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 10 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 3 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (DS) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 107 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (DS) because they are: that's the noise.

Explorers of Sky: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and save. The US game card's code ends in
-USA(sellers quoteNTR-C2SE-USA); Japanese cards end in-JPN. Check the code on the card label in the photos. Progress saves to memory on the game card, so there is no save battery to replace. - Which game. Explorers of Sky is the third Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game on DS, the enhanced follow-up to Explorers of Time and Darkness. Those two are separate games, so listings that name them are not in this feed. Sellers also write "Explorers of the Sky"; the feed catches both spellings.
- Japanese copies under generic titles. Japan-based sellers list the game with no region word, often as "Nintendo DS Software". They run on a US DS, in Japanese. The feed drops Japan-located listings and region wording, but check the label language on any cheap copy.
- Demo and not-for-resale cards. Cards marked NFR or demo turn up in titles. They are not the retail game, so the feed leaves them out.
- Case-only and manual-only sellers. Empty cases, manuals and guides carry the game's name at prices near a loose card. Make sure the photos show the game card. The first Mystery Dungeon game has its own page: Red Rescue Team (GBA).
- Bootlegs. Ask for clear photos of both sides of the card and compare them against a known-authentic US copy. Treat a card priced far below the other loose copies as a warning sign.
Buying Nintendo DS games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo DS cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
