Pokemon White 2: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and save. Check the code on the card label in the photos matches the US release; Japanese and Australian copies carry their own region codes, and sellers sometimes print them in the title. Progress saves to memory on the game card, so there is no save battery to replace.
- Release. Pokemon White Version 2 and its pair, Pokemon Black 2, are the 2012 Unova sequels. Japan got them in June 2012 and North America in October 2012.
- White 2 vs White. The original Pokemon White is a different game that usually asks less, and sellers write both as "Pokemon White". The feed requires "White 2" or "White Version 2" in the title and drops Black / White pairs and multi-game sets. Read the card label before buying.
- Case-only sellers. Empty cases, and box-and-manual sets with no game card, are listed often near the bottom of the price range. The feed drops the common phrasings ("no game", "case only", "manual only"), but confirm the card is in the photos.
- Cheap "game card" listings. Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
