Super Castlevania IV: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code & save. Check that the code on the label and box matches the US release. Listings use the code to tell regions apart: Super Famicom copies carry SHVC-AD and PAL copies SNSP-AD. The game has no battery save. Progress is kept with passwords, so there's no save battery to fail.
- Konami vs Majesco prints. Konami's original release came with a color manual. A later reprint was published by Majesco, and sellers describe its manual as black and white. Many sellers price first-print, color-manual CIB copies higher, so check the manual and the publisher credit on the box against the listing's claim.
- Hack carts with the full title. One seller lists ROM-hack carts named "Super Castlevania IV: Remix", "Other Castle" and "Alter Quest", along with "Custom" carts. They show the real title and Konami artwork, but they're not the 1991 game. The feed filters these out.
- Manual-only and box-only listings are common. The feed filters the clearly labelled ones, but read the photos before you assume a cart is included.

Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
