How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 42 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 19 of 42 (~45%) for quality reasons. The remaining 23 are what we'd actually surface.
- 16 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Castlevania: The Adventure (Game Boy) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 106 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Castlevania: The Adventure (Game Boy) because they are: that's the noise.

Castlevania: The Adventure: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Not the NES game. This is the 1989 Konami Game Boy title, a separate release from the NES Castlevania. Search results mix the two, and loose-cart listings often say only "Castlevania Adventure", so check the photo for a Game Boy cartridge.
- Product code. Check that the label code matches a US release.
- Print variants. We have no verified distinguishing marks for early versus later prints, so don't pay a premium for a "rare print" claim without a side-by-side photo of a known-authentic copy.
- Loose carts are the common listing. Most asking prices are for the bare cartridge. A listing with a box or manual is a different tier, and sealed copies ask far above everything else, often graded.
- Listing traps seen while tuning. Mixed-game listings that name a second title (the feed drops the obvious ones), and Japanese-market copies sold under the Dracula Densetsu name, are filtered out. Region-free or "overseas version" wording on a cart is worth a question before you buy.
- Buy tested. Check that the seller states the cart was tested on a Game Boy, and look for the Nintendo security screw intact on the back. A Phillips-head screw there means the cart has been opened or reshelled.

Buying Game Boy games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
