How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 3290 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 3262 of 3290 (~99%) for quality reasons. The remaining 28 are what we'd actually surface.
- 3226 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 17 shipped from a region we exclude
- 12 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 priced above the curated ceiling
- 2 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Batman: The Video Game (Game Boy) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 133 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Batman: The Video Game (Game Boy) because they are: that's the noise.

Batman: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and code: Sunsoft's 1990 Game Boy Batman, based on the 1989 film. The US label code should match the US release; compare the product code on the label against a known authentic photo.
- Save mechanism: none. It is a straight cartridge with no save battery, so there is no dead-battery risk to price in.
- Print variants: collectors do not generally price this title by print run, so treat claims of a "rare variant" as unverified unless the seller shows a clear label photo.
- Sound-alike titles: Sunsoft's Batman: Return of the Joker and Konami's The Animated Series are separate Game Boy games. Both are filtered out of this feed, but check the title before you buy. The NES game of the same name uses a very similar title too.
- Listing trap: plenty of sellers write only "Batman" with the console name. Look for the 1990 date and the Sunsoft label, not just the word Batman.
Buying Game Boy games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
