How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 40 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 24 of 40 (~60%) for quality reasons. The remaining 16 are what we'd actually surface.
- 14 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 5 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 shipped from a region we exclude
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Final Fantasy Adventure (Game Boy) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 106 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Final Fantasy Adventure (Game Boy) because they are: that's the noise.

Final Fantasy Adventure: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Not the Japanese Seiken Densetsu. The US release is the 1991 Game Boy cart of Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden. Japanese copies of the same game surface constantly under "Final Fantasy Adventure" titles; the feed filters on Japanese-language terms and Japan-based sellers, but check the label and listing photos before paying.
- Save mechanism. The cart keeps its save in battery-backed memory. The original save battery is a flat coin cell, and 20+ year-old cells routinely fail, so budget for a battery swap whatever the seller claims. "Tested, saves" in the title is a better sign than "works".
- Not the Final Fantasy Legend games. Sellers lump the Game Boy Final Fantasy Legend III and its siblings in with this one. Check that the title on the label reads Final Fantasy Adventure.
- Print variants. Buyer-facing print differences are not something we can state with confidence. Compare the label and product code against a known authentic photo.
- Listing traps. Manual-only and box-art-only listings carry the full game name and can look like the game at a glance. Sealed asking prices run far above everything else, and graded or "sealed" claims need the usual verification.
Buying Game Boy games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
