How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 89 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 86 of 89 (~97%) for quality reasons. The remaining 3 are what we'd actually surface.
- 69 missing a required keyword group (e.g. completeness / authenticity)
- 13 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Mega Man IV (Game Boy) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 120 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Mega Man IV (Game Boy) because they are: that's the noise.

Mega Man IV: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Not the NES game. This is the Game Boy Mega Man IV, a separate game from Mega Man 4 on NES. Sellers write "Mega Man IV", "Mega Man 4" or "Megaman 4" with Game Boy in the title, and the platform is the only thing separating it from the NES game. It is the fourth of the Game Boy series, after Dr. Wily's Revenge, Mega Man II and Mega Man III. This page tracks the US release only, so Japanese Rockman World 4 copies are filtered out.
- Product code. Check that the label's product code matches the US release rather than a regional one. If the seller won't photograph the label, assume it doesn't match.
- Print variants. Treat "first print" or reprint labels as a seller claim; compare the label against a known authentic photo before paying a premium.
- Listing traps. Manual-only and booklet-only listings carry the full game title, and "Mega Man I II III IV V" multi-game listings mention this title, so read the photos for what is actually included. A European cartridge also circulates under the same name; the feed filters the ones that say so in the title.
- Graded copies. Sealed or complete copies in third-party grading slabs are listed far above ungraded asking prices. Compare like with like.

Buying Game Boy games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
