How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 2195 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 1960 of 2195 (~89%) for quality reasons. The remaining 235 are what we'd actually surface.
- 1825 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 50 shipped from a region we exclude
- 48 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 19 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 9 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 6 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 3 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Tetris (Game Boy) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 141 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Tetris (Game Boy) because they are: that's the noise.

Tetris: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code & saving. US cartridges are listed under the code
DMG-TR-USA(some Canadian-market listings show aCANvariant of the code). Check the label code matches the US release. It is a puzzle game with no save feature, so there is no save battery to replace. - Print variants. Revised label and packaging runs exist, but sellers rarely identify them reliably. Compare a claimed "early print" against reference photos instead of trusting the title; the cart itself is the cheap part, and a complete box and manual is where asking prices climb.
- Same-name traps. Tetris for the NES is a different game with its own page. Tetris DX (Game Boy Color), Tetris Plus, Tetris Attack and Tetris 2 share the title text and are different carts at different prices. Confirm the label says plain Tetris and the platform is Game Boy.
- Many sellers pair it with a console. Titles that say "bundle" or name a console body are not a game-only price. The manual alone is also listed under the same title, so check that the listing is for the cartridge.
Buying Game Boy games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Game Boy cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
