How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 143 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 65 of 143 (~45%) for quality reasons. The remaining 78 are what we'd actually surface.
- 48 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 8 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 5 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 2 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 2 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PS1) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PS1) because they are: that's the noise.

Spyro 2: collector & reseller spec sheet
Insomniac Games developed Ripto's Rage and Sony published it for the PlayStation in North America in 1999. This page tracks the US (NTSC-U/C) release.
- Format & saves. It's a single disc that saves to a PlayStation memory card. Check that the product code on the disc and spine matches the US release.
- Print variants. An original black-label print and a later Greatest Hits reprint are both common, and sellers usually name the print in the title ("Black Label", "BL", "Greatest Hits", "GH"). The price table blends them, so compare like for like before calling a listing a deal. Some copies are listed as "Collector's Edition" or "gold foil"; check the photos to see which print you're getting.
- Name mix-ups. Some sellers title it "Spyro the Dragon 2", which can lead you to the first game. Match the cover art to Ripto's Rage, and see Spyro the Dragon for the original and Spyro: Year of the Dragon for the sequel.
- PAL copies. The European release is titled "Gateway to Glimmer", and PAL copies are often listed at much higher asking prices than US ones. The feed drops listings that say PAL, but check the region marking on any vaguely titled copy.
- Graded sealed copies. Sealed copies listed with a third-party grade can ask several times the going rate for a plain sealed copy. Compare against the Sealed row, not the graded asks.
Buying PlayStation games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
