How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 1732 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 1635 of 1732 (~94%) for quality reasons. The remaining 97 are what we'd actually surface.
- 1575 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 25 shipped from a region we exclude
- 14 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 7 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 7 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 6 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Silent Hill (PS1) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 129 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Silent Hill (PS1) because they are: that's the noise.

Silent Hill: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and saves. Check that the code printed on the disc and spine matches the US release. An
SLPM-code means the Japanese release, which won't boot on an unmodified US console. The game saves to a PlayStation memory card, not to the disc. - Black Label vs Greatest Hits. The original US print is what sellers call "Black Label". Konami later reissued the game in Sony's Greatest Hits budget line, which carries Greatest Hits branding on the packaging. Black Label copies generally ask more at every condition tier, so confirm the print from the photos rather than the listing title.
- Insert-only listings. Some listings sell a jewel case with only the original back artwork, or other paper without the disc. They show up at a fraction of a loose-disc price. Read what's actually included before you treat one as a bargain.
- The sealed demo disc. A Silent Hill demo CD-ROM turns up factory sealed. It isn't the retail game, so don't compare its price to sealed retail copies.
- Not the sequel. Silent Hill 2 is a PS2 game, and "Silent Hill 1 & 2" listings are usually two-game lots. This page tracks the first game on PS1 only.
Buying PlayStation games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
