How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 29 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 26 of 29 (~90%) for quality reasons. The remaining 3 are what we'd actually surface.
- 25 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Tomba! (PS1) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 107 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Tomba! (PS1) because they are: that's the noise.

Tomba!: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Developer & save: Developed by Whoopee Camp and released on the PlayStation in 1998 in the US. Progress saves to a memory card. Check that the product code on the disc and spine matches the US release, since the Japanese version (Ore! Tomba) circulates under a near-identical name.
- Print variants: An original-run print and a later Greatest Hits-style budget reprint may both exist. Read the spine and disc face in the seller's photos, and expect the original run to ask more.
- Listing traps: The 2024 PS5 and PS4 re-release shares the exact title, so make sure the listing names PlayStation 1 or PS1. Sequel Tomba! 2 is a separate game with its own listings. Replacement cases, art inserts and manual-only listings often carry the full game name in the title but contain no disc.
Buying PlayStation games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
