How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 577 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 454 of 577 (~79%) for quality reasons. The remaining 123 are what we'd actually surface.
- 428 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 10 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 5 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 5 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 4 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Spyro the Dragon (PS1) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 118 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Spyro the Dragon (PS1) because they are: that's the noise.

Spyro the Dragon: collector & reseller spec sheet
Insomniac Games developed Spyro the Dragon and Sony published it for the PlayStation in North America in 1998.
- Format & saves. It's a single disc that saves to a PlayStation memory card. As a Sony first-party title, the US disc carries an
SCUSproduct code. Check that code on the disc and spine. - Print variants. The original black-label print and a later Greatest Hits reprint are both common, and sellers usually name the print in the title ("Black Label", "Greatest Hits", "GH"). The price table blends them, so compare like for like before calling a listing a deal. Some copies are listed as "Collector's Edition"; check the photos to see which print you're getting.
- Year of the Dragon cross-listings. The third game, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, has both "Spyro" and "Dragon" in its title and turns up all over searches for the first game. The feed drops anything titled "Year of the Dragon", along with Ripto's Rage, the three-disc Collector's Edition set and the later Legend of Spyro games. If a title is vague, check that the cover art belongs to the 1998 game.
- Demo discs. "Not for Resale" demo discs of Spyro are listed under the full game name at disc-only prices. The feed excludes the ones that say "demo" or "not for resale" in the title.
Buying PlayStation games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
