Valkyrie Profile: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and format. tri-Ace developed it and Enix published it in North America in 2000. The US release is a two-disc set that saves to a PlayStation memory card. "Discs 1 & 2" or "2-disc set" in a title means both discs are there. A loose listing that names only one disc is half a game, so check that both discs are pictured. Each US disc carries an
SLUS-product code on the ring around the center hole. AnSLPM-code means a Japanese disc. - Print variants. Collectors treat the 2000 Enix release as the only US print. No widely known US Greatest Hits reprint exists, so "Black Label" in a title is seller shorthand, not a separate variant to pay extra for. Japan has several versions: a Limited Box edition and later budget reprints sold as PS one Books and Ultimate Hits. They often show up in US searches at prices that look like bargains. They are region-locked Japanese copies, and this feed leaves them out.
- Name traps. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (the PSP remake) and Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (PS2) share the title words and turn up in the same searches, usually much cheaper than the PS1 original. Check the platform before you assume the PS1 price has dropped. Strategy guides, both the US guide and Japanese guide books, also show up under the bare title.

- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
