How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 56 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 14 of 56 (~25%) for quality reasons. The remaining 42 are what we'd actually surface.
- 5 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 4 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Final Fantasy Origins (PS1) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 91 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Final Fantasy Origins (PS1) because they are: that's the noise.

Final Fantasy Origins: collector & reseller spec sheet
- What it is: a two-game compilation of Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II for the original PlayStation, released in the US in 2003. Progress saves to a PlayStation memory card.
- Don't confuse it with Final Fantasy Chronicles or Final Fantasy Anthology. Those are separate PS1 compilations (IV plus Chrono Trigger, and V plus VI). Sellers sometimes put several names in one title; the feed rejects those, along with multi-game lots.
- Print variants: an original retail print and a later budget reprint exist. Sellers describe them as "Black Label" and "Greatest Hits", and the label tier usually moves the asking price. Compare the product code and label in the listing photos against a confirmed US copy rather than trusting the title.
- Titles to read closely: "Origin" without the S is often a different game (the 2022 Stranger of Paradise on newer consoles, which the feed rejects). Also watch for a registration card or manual sold alone, and graded sealed copies, which ask far more than a raw sealed copy. A "CRACKED" case or disc is filtered out.
- Completeness: confirm the disc, case and manual in the photos. Many "complete" copies are disc plus manual without the case.
Buying PlayStation games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every PlayStation disc. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose (disc only)
- Ask for a clear photo of the data side under light. Light surface scratches usually play; deep or circular scratches often don't.
- Check the label art and the printing in the center ring against a known-authentic disc. Burned copies and reprinted labels are the main fakes.
- "Resurfaced" means the disc was polished. It is usually fine to play but worth less to collectors.
CIB (complete in case)
- Confirm the case, front art and manual are all shown, and that the art matches the disc's region.
- Cracked cases are cheap to replace; missing or reprinted cover art and manuals are what cost money.
- For multi-disc games, make sure every disc is pictured.
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
